    - Tarus Model 817 .38sp
    - Tarus Model 85 .38sp
    - Tarus Model 850 .38sp
    - Ruger LCR .38sp
    - Walther PPK/S .380
    - Lady Smith .38sp

I recommend you let her decide what she wants to get.

I took my wife to the gun shop, introduced her to the man behind the counter and walked away for 2 hours. Came back when she had questions she wanted to ask me about guns, but did not say one peep about her choices. I let her go through the same selection process I went through when picking out a CCW for myself.

I agree with the poster above. I REALLY want my wife to carry but she just isn't there yet. She cannot for the life of her decide which firearm she wants.

All I keep doing is getting her to shoot as many different pistols and revolvers as I can possibly get my hands on.

Ironically, her favourite so far is the SCAR rifle....

As a side note, I don't like the LCR. It hurts the crap out of your hand when you shoot it.

I agree let her decide and save you some money in the long run. I took my wife to the gun shop and she like the "little revolvers" with the Crimson laser sight. Well long story short I purchased her a S&W #60 with 3" barrel. She liked it but it was heavy. About one year later we purchased a S&W 637 38 special +P, with Crimson Laser sight. Now she is happy. One good thing is we now have a S&W 357 which we both can shoot. She carries it everywhere in her handbag. Hasn't shot it as of yet but will soon. (FYI: she has shot revolvers before so was more comfortable with one. She couldn't seem to get the hang of racking the slide.)

Let her decide and purchase what ever she thinks she wants.

+1 on the recommendation to let the woman choose. Preferably she should do that after exposure to a number of different pistols and/or platforms.

You'll completely avoid the "You got me a gun I don't feel comfortable with, (you insensitive bastard)!" scenario. If she chooses, she's invested from the beginning, and has nobody to blame but herself if she has problems with it - and as a fully-invested party she'll either learn to work within the limitations of the weapon or get one that DOES work for her.

As others said, get her to hold and/or shoot as many as possible. Women like their 38 Specials!

You may also want to expand your search to 357mag. A 357 will also shoot 38sp. Gives you more ammo options. She can start shooting 38sp, and step up to 357 as she gets more comfortable.

What ever you decide make sure she has a comfortable holster to go with it.

Do NOT let her keep it in her purse. That is one of the most unsecure ways to keep it.

I would avoid the PPK. It has a very stiff recoil spring which causes many people to have difficulty with racking the slide. Similarly, trigger pull is extemely heavy in double action, maybe 10lbs. Also, in .380, recoil is very stiff - surprisingly so for a .380. Much worse than a Keltec 3AT. Also, the overly machined tang under the hammer will cut the web of the shooter's hand within 10-15 rounds fired, making practice shooting sessions painful and unpleasant. Many women seem to like the Kel Tec in either .32 or .380 since it is much smaller than a snubby.

    Well, I'm trying to sell a Bersa .380, so that's exactly what I think she needs . . .

Seriously, all good advice already given here, especially this:

Wish my wife would at least start to get interested, but no soap (yet). Putting her in the position to choose what's right for her is the way to go.
