    Default Moving A Safe

I recently moved here from NH and I am still on a learning curve "where" to find things. I am trying to locate a place I can rent a climbing dolly so I can move a safe. Any ideas? I have been calling around and also searched the net but have found nothing local. Thanks in advance for any info ...

U Haul has them for rent.

Well I'm back in the same boat! I contacted a few Home Depots and a U-Haul moving center and neither one of them rent climbing dollies. They acted like they did not know what I was talking about! They both carry an appliance dolly but that's all. Did you guys use an appliance dolly or a climbing dolly. Here is a picture of what I am looking to find:

The video shows an electric one but many are just "manual" but makes moving large heavy items EASY ...

Any more ideas or places to try?

    Gun-safe + stairs = ugly!

How heavy is your safe (empty)? Are the stairs wood or concrete? Are you going up the stairs or down? How wide are the stairs? How many? How many guys are going to help you?

I moved a 500 lb safe (uphill) through grass with a basic hand truck and my wife pushing. My legs almost gave out, along with my heart.

Never seen one in The States but someone might start thinking about building them here.

You walk up and down the stairs with one of these very easy.

Thanks again everyone for suggestions. Ended up building a "ramp", had to get up one step and down one step (wood steps). Used an appliance dolly rented from U-Haul. Moved by myself, don't know anybody here under the age of 75+. Did not want my wife or daughters to get involved in case something went wrong. It was a little hairy but got it moved without incident and it's now in place! Safe weighs just under 900# and I'm thinking I will need another soon for overflow

Here is the safe I just moved, from their site ... no pics of my own.
