Default PAFOA servers are now running at full steam again.

A few weeks ago the motherboard on one of the 4 web servers that keeps the forum running decided to die on us (which caused some very annoying issues for people for a few days until someone smarter than me figured out what was going on.)

I'm happy to announce that the motherboard has been replaced and it is now back in service.

My guess is that we will see a slight increase in performance on the forum, however I am also happy to note that it appears the system worked. One server died and the other three handled the load just fine until it was fixed.

Sorry to all the people who had a terrible time trying to get to the site after it died but before we figured it out!

I did have a few problems with accessing the forum a few weeks ago. Though I didn't notice any problems over the past week.

The server problem definitely explains it. Glad we got everything back up and running.

    Heh, yes and no.

The problem was that the server was down, but it was still in the load balancing setup so you had a 25% chance of getting directed to a dead server.

Once we removed the dead server from the load balancing, the site worked just fine on the remaining 3.

That explains why the times I had problems I was able to hop on my laptop and access the site...Cool, nice to know.

when the server died I had problems, but when you removed it from the load balance, I didn't even notice it was gone to be honest...
