Low profile gas block
???
I want to run a mid-length FF forearm on my Colt and to do so I have to remove the stock sight/GB.
Then install a low profile GB and then install the forearm (DD/MI/YH).
I think with this I can go with the 9" setup.
Also there is a "screw in" end cap for the muzzle side of the forearm.
Am I missing anything?
Thanks

It sounds like you're looking at one of those YHM's because you're mentioning the handguard cap. You may want to get the YHM's barrel nut wrench http://www.google.com/products?q=yhm...d=0CB4QrQQwAg; although, you can hand tighten it like I did.
You may want to borrow or buy an upper receiver vise block; otherwise, be careful with clamping it to the bench vise not to crush or scrape it...I mean, it's a Colt and there are plenty of 'em out there right?

Unless I'm missing something, If you are swapping a mid-length handguard for a mid-length free floating you should be go to go but if you changing the length, ie. carbine~full length to mid-length you are going to run into a problem with the position of the hole drilled in your barrel for the gas block. good luck. How do you like the RRA setup?
How long did you go? Seems like most mid-length are 9".
Did you like the "Length of View".
Did you have make any barrel mods to mount the G/B. Was it a set screw or slotted style?
Thanks for the info.

Re: Low profile gas block
The RRA half quad is only one length .. unless they changed that recently. Just checked their website, they only come in one length.
I do like it a lot. It does had a little weight to the rifle but that really doesn't bother me much. I like the fact that I have the rail but don't need covers to grip the thing as the smooth part is where I grip.
If you come to the group shoot this Sunday at PMSC, your more than welcome to shoot it.
No barrel mods at all. Lycan actually did most of the work
The hardest part was getting the threads to line up on the nut. It took forever. Shawn.L has the same HGs too. Lycan help him do it too. I definitely see a trend there.
The process that I outlined a few post above are the exact steps that we did. Well ... I guess I just lied. We put the HGs on a new barrel and a stripped upper, so we didn't have to remove anything. The installation was the same process though. Hopefully if I missed something Lycan will correct me. I don't have the greatest memory.

As Lycan would say.
Group shoot PMSC, only if "I'am-Lycan-theweather!
Actually another member said Lycan is the person to talk about getting my AK modified. Soooo I do need to talk to him.
