    Default "Stake That Castle Nut!"

To all the AR Guru's here...what is it with staking the castle nut? My Bushmaster is my first AR and I'm really not sure if the nut is staked or not...If not, how does one go about staking said nut? Appreciate any info...

The slots on the castle nut that are closest to receiver plate are where you stake it. There should be a piece of metal from the receiver plate that has been pushed into one of the little slots on the castle nut.

If yours is not done, which is most likely the case, you can get a small round punch and do it yourself.

Also, why you are at it, check out the stake job on your gas key. I am willing to bet that it is not staked all that well either.

Below is a pic of how it is supposed to be.

Nope...my castle nut isn't staked! Guess I will have to stake it. Should I add a tacticool sling adapter before I stake it or is staking reversible?

All this talk about stake is making me hungry....

Staking is reversible, but I would just add the receiver plate now and save yourself some hassle.

Become a Kool-Aid drinking Colt owner. It is done when you buy the rifle.
