Default Is a Civil War the only way?

Ok, been reading on a good bit of sites, and some articles and heard it from a good bit of people who believe (Some are just waiting for it) that a civil war is going to be the only way to fix this country.

Sorry but I'm gonna say right off the bat that I don't think that this is the only way. I still have a good bit of hope and faith in us the people that we can get back to keeping politicians in check and getting society back in the right direction. Just wondering what you guys here think.

Currently our system of Gov needs a major overhaul. It has become a sprwaling nightmare of red tape and beaurocratic nonsense. And the current trend to want to do anything fool thing the UN mandates is just lunacy.

We need to get back to America for Americans, and force our people in Gov to get back to the Constitutionally limited form of government it's supposed to be. The fourth branch of government isn't Dick Chenney, it's We the People, and we need to pleasantly, vehemently, and frequently remind our servants of that.

I can only hope the good sense and strong values of average americans will always see us thru. I shudder to think of a time when the saying may become true "united we stand, divided we fall."

I would like to think so, that there is another way. But I just think we see the down side of democracy...being that our own citizens want to take away our own freedoms. These people need a smack in the caboose, people died in wars defending our freedoms so our gubmint can take away freedoms in the name of security...don't phucking think so.

The downside of democracy is that we have all these politicians and citizens that want to disarm america...and have a safety hysteria going on. Also all this political correctness needs to get tossed out the phucking window. Where does it say in the constitution that no one is allowed to be offended...it dosent. In fact the 1st amendment would conflict with that way of thinking. America in the past 50 years or so went from a truly free nation with tough minded individuals into a nation of weak people who are willing to trade freedoms for security. A revolution won't change that. Trust me, our gubmint has plans in place just in case a revolution ever sparks again. They would be stupid not too.

If you guys want to learn why a revolution would really not do any good...research the federal reserve act which was signed in 1913...we gave a private corporation the power to make/distribute money. Our gubmint listens to them, they are the true masters...there are alot of things wrong with America today...and I for one don't think a revolution would change much...Plus the revolutionists would be called domestic terrorists by our gubmint and the media...Sorry but America needs more than a revolution and I have no idea where to start... The director of the cia right now got promoted from the nsa....here is a link...watch it, listen to this rat bastard...every American should hear this! Bush appointed this man to the Director of the CIA...pinch me someone fucking pinch me...I must be sleeping!

What part of the system do you guys want to change through civil war? I don't mean policies that can be changed simply by voting but system wide change that would require a civil war?

I almost expect a Civil War. I figure some White Power Extremist will have had enough. And being armed and well trained. Try to overthrow the goverment. Or take control of a major Oil Line or Nuclear Plant and start making demands.

Hate to say, it, but it is one reason that I am stocking up on a decent Black Weapon, with Ammo and putting some food and water away. It's coming. I truely believe it is.

If our system of govt. doesn't allow for change but through civil war, then it's not a system that I would want to restore. The Founding Fathers designed our government in the hopes that the will of people can be followed without the need for war. Revolution was (and still is) considered a last resort and a failure of the system as a whole.

I don't think that civil war will fix anything; it will likely make matters worse in the long run. Civil war typically fragments people into small groups that, because of the conflict, look to further their own self-interests rather than the interests of the people at large. Ideals quickly fall by the wayside when the SHTF and people are just looking to survive.

I truly believe that our system of government works, I just think that we need to do some housecleaning. I'm sure some people are tired of hearing it, but if we get someone like Ron Paul into the Executive Branch, it will go a long way to fixing some of the problems we face. He will by no means be a panacea, but it will help.

Another thing I've always believed is that the people "get what they elect". In the end, we've been given the government we've collectively asked for. Part of our problem in this country is an apathetic electorate. If, as a citizen, one isn't happy with their elected representatives, then one should seek and vote for a better alternative. If everyone really voted for who they thought was the best candidate, and didn't just vote for someone because "there's no way this other guy will get elected", then the other guy just might win.

In addition, if a better alternative doesn't exist, then one should run for office on their own beliefs, in the hopes that they will gather support that the other candidates can not, and potentially address concerns the others will not. This is something that I think is lost on a lot of citizens: just about ANYONE can run for office; GET INVOLVED. Our country was founded not by the career politician that has become the norm today, but rather by the citizen-statesman who does his duty for his country and then returns to his personal pursuits. The idea of the citizen-statesman is extremely important, because it embodies the "little guy" principle; that anyone, from any walk of life, can participate in government and represent their fellow Americans regardless of who they were born to, what titles they hold, how much money they have, or how much influence they can buy.

If more people stopped worrying about party politics and what they watch on TV, and focused on what it truly means to be an American and a servant of the American people, then most of these problems would fix themselves. The foundation of our system is a responsible electorate; fix that, and there's no need for civil war.

First of all, if this country needs anything it would be another revolution as opposed to a civil war.

Regardless, there will always be a potential for reactionary political elements from both ends of the political spectrum (fascists / socialists) to seize power in the aftermath.

Is anyone prepared to see their loved ones murdered in front of their very eyes, execution style, by death squads that will no doubt arise in the power vacuum left by a fractured central government?

Don't think for a moment that a contemporary "American" revolution or civil war will be any less brutal than what we see occurring in Iraq. Civilians WILL get caught in the crossfire.

Be careful what you ask for, you may just get it.

    I agree with CR.

With our current military, and intel services, how could a civil war even work? I cannot see it working, and the media would paint us as domestic terrorists, as someone else said earlier. Then, as we'd be fighting against one HELL of a military, we'd lose a ton of our fellow gun owners. Now, we're painted as these horrible people, and theres not too many left. The anti-gunners now have a ton of ammo against us, and can do anything they want.

Mind you, thats if we lost. But, I really, really, can't see us winning a civil war. I can't. I'm sorry, I'd love to believe it, but I cannot.

We need to pick our servants, and educate others on which ones will actually help. Too many people are relying on the government to help them, and the government does, so they expect it, and get pissed when its not done. I agree we need a MAJOR overhaul, and I personally believe a limit on the budget for campaigning will help a lot in that area. It seems now that the one with the most money wins. That is not the way it should be. Elect your officals wisely, choose who you think will do the best to run our system, and not the other guy because yours can't win.
