    Default ar-15 big bore build

    Hello,

I am planning to build a big bore upper for one of my AR lowers. The choices are .450 Bushmaster, .458 Socom and .50 Beowulf. Does anyone have firsthand experiance with any of these, or can anyone direct me to a non bias review? Ive read what the manufactuers have to say about thier own products.

I have assembled several lowers and now want to do an upper.
    Thanks in advance.

Ive read about the .338 Federal wich is a .308Win case necked up but it requires being built on an Armalite Ar-10 . I would think a 338WM(winchester magnum?) would be too long even for the AR-10 platform.
If im mistaken please educate me

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not an AR expert, but he said, the 30-06 AR platform could handle it.....

Armalite makes an ar-30 but it is a bolt gun not a semi other than that Ive been unable to find an ar style gun for 30-06 length cartridge.

Have you looked at .50 beowulf ammo prices..if not here is a link.

    http://gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchR...ywords=beowulf

VS. their web page prices.. Now last I was told from Alexander Arms was Ammo was on back order. The web page wont show this, just for the record.. But check out the price differance/markup ..

I like my Beowulf, just wish ammo was easier to get.. If you look at the 2 links above even look at the cost of just brass comparison.

    Another cool link..
