I may have, inadvertently, gotten myself elected Constable
As my wife and I were filling out our paper ballots, and I was writing in 'Mickey Mouse' for many offices since the candidates on the ballot were unacceptable to me, I came to Constable. There were no candidates on the ballot so I told my wife to write in my name and I did the same, not expecting to win.
Fast forward to today and I get a letter from the election bureau telling me that I finished tied for the most votes. Lots will be cast next week to determine who becomes Constable, lol.
Now I know a constable can work the polls and serve warrants, I'll have to do some research to see what some of the other duties might be. Interesting and unexpected development though.

Haha, you get a job you didn't apply for. Not many can say that.

And don't forget this fringe benefit...
when he gets his firearms certification or whatever it's called, he can CC in all 50 states and Wash. D.C.
Or not. I know we have bounced this around many times on here, but I think the final word was that constables do qualify under LEOSA....I think

Re: I may have, inadvertently, gotten myself elected Constable
I did this to my dad one year. He didn't know he was running for township auditor, until I came home and told him I voted for him twice. He won both the 2 year position as auditor, and the 6 year position as auditor. He had to turn one down.
When the financial disclosure paperwork came in, he almost turned the position down to avoid the hassle, until he noticed a little checkbox on the bottom saying either that none of the information was applicable to the position, or that he spent no money to get elected- I don't remember which.
We now have the Lehigh County Board of Elections paperwork framed on the wall.
I laughed the hardest I had laughed in years when they came in the mail.

Best wishes on your decision! Of course, you can always turn it down since it was a write-in. If you want the job, then defninitely study up on it. There are some constables here, plus you can find a ton of stuff online.
More proof that every vote counts...especially with vacant ballots.

If I do get in, OC will be no problem at my polling place.
