    Default change of address

Have a LTCF Alllegheny County. If I move (I might in January) what do I need to do for a change of address? I checked ACSO Firearms page and they only had info about renewal and new applications. Do I have to renew? How does this affect my normal expiration date?

    Absolutely nothing.
    Do I have to renew?
    Yes, when your LTCF expires.

"This" being the actual moving? Doesn't affect it at all. Your LTCF is good, state-wide, until it expires. If you move to another county, when it comes time to renew your soon-to-expire license, you will apply for another at your new county's seat with the Sheriff's Office.

You may, if you desire, notify Allegheny County of your new address, but that's your option - it's not required by law.

As gunlawyer on here pointed out before, you should notify Allegheny County of your new address, in case the sheriff needs to reach you concerning your LTCF... for such things as a revocation.

Not legally required, but a good idea. Then as pointed out before, just renew in your new county when the old LTCF expires.

Everything is above is correct, but if you would like to apply for a new one in your new county of residence you may. You would then have two simultaneously valid LTCFs.
If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:

put your zip plus 4 in the box in the upper right hand corner.

I had a cop who stopped me double take at my DL and my LTCF. He asked which was the correct address. It was my DL. He informed me (quite rudely) that my LTCF was therefore invalid and it needed to be updated every time I moved.

Went and talked to the Sheriff and he shot that down quick and rolled his eyes and how much the Staties think they know.

Crimson, I thought only one (the updated one) would be valid?? Wouldnt the second replace the first?

Sorry for the old bump but I just have a quick question. Do you have to update the address for non-resident permits or is it just like resident LTCs? Mine has my MA address but now I live in NJ

There is no legal requirement to update, but it would probably be in your best interest to do so. Contact the sheriff who issued it and ask about the procedure.

Hmmmm, since you live in NJ now, you won't be able to renew your PA LTCF, unless somehow you can get a NJ carry permit/license

You may run into a problem trying to renew...as in order to have a non-res PA LTCF, you MUST have a License from your home state.

Perhaps since you moved from bad to worse, PA won't issue/renew a non-resident license to you anymore. Unless of course your last name is Lautenberg or something and you are one of the 17 people who have a Jersey permit.
