Default Concealed carry on your own property?

Hubby and I had a discussion tonight about the legality of carrying concealed on your own property. Neither of us have a LTCF.

So the question remains...can we legally carry concealed on our own private rural property (about 80 acres)?? I did a search but couldn't find the answer.

    Thanks gang.

Inside your house, yes. Outside, no.

Why would you want to carry concealed on your own property?

The Pa. UFA at Sec. 6106 (a), provides that no person shall carry a firearm in any vehicle or concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a license to do so.

    Abode noun

A building or shelter where one lives: domicile, dwelling, habitation, home, house, lodging (often used in plural), place, residence. Chiefly British dig (used in plural). See protection/exposure.

    Statute others are referencing:

§ 6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license.

    1. Offense defined. --
    1. Except as provided in paragraph (2), any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree.

"In" one's home does not include curtelage. I think what that means is that your front porch is also off limits if it's not enclosed. "In" one's place of abode means "in" and nothing more. Doesn't enclude all the surrounding property.

I've already mentioned such to my state representative for correction.

Thanks for the info...it was getting to be a rather heated debate. He said he could and I said nope, not legal.....of course he is a know it all....most men think they are right...JK gents.

When in doubt of PA gun regulations this is the place to come...again thanks.

If it's your own property why not just open carry? No license needed.

Yes, I realize that wasn't your question.

    Still a valid suggestion, IMO.

Please Note: The poster was issued a warning for this post.

If you are on your property who is going to know? and anyone coming on your property to find out is tresspassing, now if you step off of your property well then that's a different story.
