Any gun shop will have a 1911. You need to do your research to see what brand, size, caliber, finish, type, ect. . . You want.
If you go 1911 shopping on price alone, your going to be very disapointed with your purchase.
Read up on reviews, and specs.

If you go out to King of Prussia (King Shooters Supply), they have a nice Norinco 1911 for under 500. Second hand but made like a tank. Dave_n

Re: where in philly can i get a 1911
As much as I pay homage to the Messiah Browning, the norc's are made of better steel than any he made, or any other there after.
The Norinco's are made of 5100 series steel. ...which is stronger than ANY other make, which all use lessor grade steels. That includes Colt, Springfield, Kimber, Nighthawk, Vickers, etc, etc, etc, etc.
The only thing the Norc's lack is some fit details and finish quality. Their receivers and slides will out live any "quality" brand 1911.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

If you buy on price alone it is not gonna serve you, if you are worried about price look used, And just because it doesnt say Colt on the slide doesnt mean it isnt a real 1911, For price you cant beat the Rock Island Armory, Under 500 for the tactical and under 450 for the basic model,

I'm also in the market for a 1911.
I am a college student so I'm not exactly rolling in the dough. Price is definitely important, but I don't want to sacrifice quality.
I've read about people getting second-hand Colt 1911 Officer models for $450... if I ever see a deal like that I'm snatching it right up!
