    Default Butcher

I know this isn't gun-related...but I think we all like to eat here at poofa sooo...
I'm in dire need of a good butcher in the philly/bucks area. One that sells up to USDA Prime and really knows his stuff. If anyone of you know a good butcher in the area or are one yourself...please let me know!

    Thanks!

I too have been on the look out of a good butcher.

In the mean time, Whole Foods has a very good meat counter with a lot of selection including an extensive USDA Prime selection.

I have been getting 3 inch USDA Prime filet mignons cut to order that are to die for.

    A couple of my favorites:

Illg's Meats, 365 Folly Road ,Warrington (Bucks Co.). www.illgsmeats.com. Very high quality cuts, very good service.

Marcus Rieker at Rieker's Prime Meats, 7979 Oxford Ave. Philadelphia (Fox Chase, it's at the corner of Rhawn and Oxford) www.riekersmeats.com. Incredible bratwurst. Just the right touch of garlic. Great filets and roasts, too.

No, I'm not German, but yeah, I like sausage, and both these places have great sausage. But they also have great traditional cuts. If you like old-fashioned (but spotless) butcher shops, you'll love either Illg's or Rieker's. And if you like German food, you'll think you died and went to heaven.

McCaffrey's Market has a great meat section, including USDA prime. Excellent but expensive.

ETA: They will cut to your standards.

I second this place. I have never tried it yet (i pass it every day for the last 4 years, and it is 4 blocks from my house)
