going in to see the sheriff tomorrow
Well my appointment to meet with the local sheriff has finally come. Any last words of advice lol. As far as my record goes, it's as clean as a whistle. Just nervous about the questions he's going to throw @ me. - MIke

Re: going in to see the sheriff tomorrow
I really hope this meeting doesn't pertain to a LTC application, because if it does, this Sheriff is WAY out of line. There is nothing in the UFA which requires a citizen to undergo an interview prior to being issued a LTC.

An interview?????? As the others have said, he is WAY out of line.
From the Wyane County, PA website...
What is required to obtain a concealed weapons permit?
> 1. The applicant must be at least 21 years of age and reside full time in Wayne County, proof of age and residency must be furnished when the application is submitted. A post office box will NOT be accepted as legal residence.
> 2. $10.00 Due at application time (Non-Refundable)
>3. $16.50 upon receiving the license- Good for 5 years. **Total Charge is $26.50** ($19.00 for license, $5.00 for photos and $2.50 for lamination) Applicant may supply 2 photos 1.25" x 1.25". Photo charge will then be deducted.
> 4. Two references (Non family members) include name, address & phone number of persons given.
> 5. Following an investigation, the applicant will be notified, as to whether the application has been approved or rejected.
I would challenge his authority to "interview" any applicants!!!!!!Dave G.

Re: going in to see the sheriff tomorrow
Yeah, I agree. You should go in there with an attitude about this whole process. You should imply, even if you do not say it outright, that he is doing his job incorrectly. You need to let him know how much more you know about the law than he does. And, then let us know how it all works out!

Re: going in to see the sheriff tomorrow
I don't agree with going in with an attitude. Going in and being confrontational is going to complicate things. What I would do is ask him why I was being subjected to an interview. I would also point out that nothing in the UFA requires an interview. I would have a hard-copy of the UFA along just in case he thinks you don't know what you're talking about.

Re: going in to see the sheriff tomorrow
Are you dropping off your app. or picking it up? If you are dropping it off and he is going to process it while you wait, I guess you could call that an interview. Anything beyond that name, rank, and serial number.
