Cool Lost License to Carry I.D. Card

Hi everybody! I lost my wallet about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately my license to carry firearms was in there. It was issued in lehigh county. I went down to the sherrif's office and paid $15 for a duplicate card. I was told by a secretary I'm not allowed to carry until I get the replacement. She said I would get it within a week and 2 weeks later I still don't have it. Does anybody know if I can carry or not? I am approved and have a current license to carry, I just need a new I.D card...Thanks!

Technically, yes. Statute requires that you be "licensed". You are licensed. However, the card is the only way you have of proving that if you need to, so while it is perfectly legal for you to carry, you might be inconvenienced if you end up in a situation where you need to prove it.

When you get your new license, make a copy and put the original in a safe place. Carry the copy instead. THAT is perfectly legal too.

Curious...do PA local PDs all have the 800# on the LTCF? Couldnt they call that # to confirm?

Not sure, but even if they have the phone number, they need the unique license ID number to verify the correct record in the database.

So, if you do not make a copy of your LTCF, you should at least write down the number of it and keep it handy or memorize it

Theoretically, yes, that would be enough to verify your status. BUT, that still does not allow you to "produce upon lawful demand", rare as that circumstance may be.
