    Default My slow AR build

Had a Colt HBAR that I traded for an M1 Garand. Decided a while back to order an Anvil Arms lower to build a second AR. Well that took quite a while to get from Anvil thanks to our buddy Barry Osamma.

Just recently decided to get a LPK and stock. Ordered from BravoCompanyUSA.com. They have DPMS LPK's for $49.95, thats quite a bit lower than they were recently. Also, got a BCM M4 stock. Now I just need to get an upper. Looking at CAR or middy, not sure. Build didn't take too long but I did use the videos on Brownells website. They are pretty nice.

Question for those with AR knowledge. Am I limited to 16"? I know I read some stuff before but can't recall. What are the restrictions here in PA for barrells?

No PA regs, federal regs require you to pay for a $200 tax stamp and get the lower engraved for anything less than 16". 16" or longer though and the sky's the limit. Uppers are not firearms so you can just have them shipped to your home and swap them out when the mood strikes you. As long as you do not go under the magical number to the EVIL less than 16" barrels the BATFE ninjas should leave you alone . . . probably.

If I understand your question correctly, a 16" barrel is the shortest you can legally go, unless you want to make a short barreled rifle (SBR). That would entail a long wait and $200.00. You can go shorter than 16" but must permanently attach something to make it longer than 16 such as a long muzzle brake or fake silencer.

You can find 16", 20" and 24" barrels from Del-Ton, also completed uppers.

Not sure about the minimum length for PA, I thought they followed federal laws in that respect which is 16".

No laws in PA about that, the Fed has already shoved them down our throat.

You guys answered my question. Thanks!

Just need to save a little $$ now to get an upper. It's probably not going to be anything fancy or expensive. Maybe a BCM, Stag, or DPMS upper. I keep looking and drooling.

I'd like to maybe go with a .458 or 6.8 but I have everything to reload 223 and already have nearly a 1,000 put together. So for now its gonna be 223/5.56.

    Great start!

BCM has some damn nice uppers right now and at an excellent price right now. I was going to buy one of theirs last year but the LMT's were in stock.
