9mm is USPSA SS division
What are your thoughts on being competitive at the local level with a 9mm in the SS division.
Here are my thoughts:
Con: Stuck in minor (No matter I will just shoot all A's )
Pros: +2 in the magazine
Pros: Ammo is way cheaper (I can afford to practice more)
Are any of you currently shooting a 9mm SS for USPSA?Last edited by spagluvx; November 3rd, 2009 at 08:10 PM.

Re: 9mm is USPSA SS division
I think in any stage where the reloads would be the same (such as Classifiers) then the advantage of Major power factor is going to show up. In the D-C class levels this will likely mean a lot and then the effect will be somewhat reduced as you go up.
That being said, 9mm is hellasoft in a full sized 1911.

Re: 9mm is USPSA SS division
PG 76 of the USPSA rule book -
maximum rounds loaded in any magazine after the start signal
-Major Power Factor - 8 rounds
-Minor Power Factor - 10 rounds
The pistol still has the same overall size requirements:
handgun with empty magazine
inserted must fit wholly within a box
with internal dimensions of 8 15/16” x
6” x 1 5/8”
The minimum caliber to make major in SS is 40.Last edited by spagluvx; November 3rd, 2009 at 08:09 PM.

Re: 9mm is USPSA SS division
It's always nice to find another excuse to shoot a 1911. I spent last year just trying to learn the game (shooting production), this year I am going to try and get good (well better!!) I plan on shooting both guns for most of the season. Now to just find enough 9mm.
I never thought of the classifiers. Now that you pointed that out, I can see where shooting minor will come into play. I am not all that concerned with my classificaiton as of yet. I plan on sticking with the local shoots and maybe depending how the season goes shooting in the sectional.

Re: 9mm is USPSA SS division
well, me and the lil'buck went to IPSC night Thursday at PMSC
he doesnt want to shoot the G19 anymore.........
so I traded and picked him up a 1911 holster
I swear I am not going shopping for a kids gun belt !
although the heavier gun needs better support........

Sweet, I checked out your thread highlighting his first shoot. Great to see the youngsters involved.
If I may, what brand of magazines are you running?
