    Default Old Fart Question.

What exactly qualifies one as an "Old Fart"?
Is it a question of age, outlook, personality or a combination of things?
I ask because I recently turned 62 and commented to my wife that I was now an old fart and she said I had been one for years.....

Actually this came up today at the shoot .. when we were sitting around talking about 'kids these days' and I turned to Fingers and said "And now we sound EXACTLY like our fathers did when we were young, don't we?"

Do you have to serve as a "young fart" first?

I would assume that's the normal progression of 'fartness'

I kinda think anyone older than me is an old fart. However, i am not an old fart to people younger than me .

I know it's bad when i tell my kids that i used to have to walk to school up hill both ways in 12" of snow - that's when i realize i'm getting to be an old fart.

The first step is to admit you're an old fart..... Your wife knew for years.
The answer to a fool is silence.

    Unhappy Re: Old Fart Question.

You reach 'Old Fart" status when your supervisors are younger than your kids.
I reached that about 3 years ago.
I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.

When you can cut a fart that last longer than 15 sec. and not leave mark's in your shorts.

Apparently carrying/shooting a revolver makes on an old fart.

I was shooting at my favorite range last week (my Smith 686 SSR and 642) and a younger guy (he was in his 20's, I am in my early 30's) commented something like "pretty good shooting with that old gun."

He wanted to chat a bit so I talked with him about wheelguns for a bit and gave him a little bit of info. The funny part was that he thought no one buys those things anymore!?! I offered to let him shoot them, but he politely declined. He was shooting a Glock by the way
