Default Good AK wood question for those who know ak's

I have a Romanian WASR 10 (nothing special) but a good shooter. I saw some nice but cheap Romanian G wood (front wood grip and pistol grip) for sale and wanted to know if it would be interchangeable with the WASR 10? The front grip has a hole for the cleaning rod. I want to pull out the dents and dings and stain it a nice Russian red. What is the difference between the Romanian G and the WASR's, I heard that most Romy G's are just parts kits but that is why I am asking. Any thoughts would be great because I want to fix up the look on this WASR 10. Thanks for the imput in advance.

I agree. Yugo are a pretty funky with part interchangability, but I think you should be fine with the WASR.

Speaking from experience: they are interchangeable to a point!
Front grip and the upper grip were direct swaps for me, no problems at all, did them in maybe 5 mins.
    The buttstock......dear God in heaven.
I had a nice G stock with the varnish, black stripe, all that stuff.
I wanted to put it on to match the new front grip and upper handguard I had put on.
The stock on my WASR REFUSED to come out.
I mean i tried a come along around a tree, I sawzalled it off and drilled it out, I pryed it out, I did everything aside from explosives to get that damned thing out.
It took my using a dremel, a whole evening, and a screwdriver to get the WASR stock the whole way out of the receiver.
Meanwhile the G code one slide in easily until the last half inch or so. A hammer and some love got it in, so there is just a tiny "visible" lip that sticks out, but everything else lined up otherwise.

Is there any difference between a WASR stock and Romy G stock? What is the black stripe on the stock for, just paint or for another reason?

No difference between them - same size, just a different finish.

I believe the black stripe on it was to signify that is was a guard rifle.
