Ed Rendell... idiot...
http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Re...id=3160&issue=
Pennsylvania Governor Still on Anti-Gun Rampage Friday, July 13, 2007 During a speech in Lancaster County with the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, Governor Ed Rendell (D) once again tried to rally support to pass legislation restricting our Second Amendment rights.
Governor Rendell is urging law enforcement to join in his efforts to pass his agenda for the legislative session this fall in Harrisburg which includes limiting firearm purchases to one-gun-a-month as well as changing state preemption laws to allow local municipalities to pass their own laws.
Please contact the Governor at (717) 787-2500, your State Senator at (717) 787-5920, and your State Representative at (717) 787-2372 and respectfully urge them to oppose any gun control measures.
Wotta tool...
Here's the $64 question - WHAT IN THE WIDE, WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS, IS A-GOIN' ON IN THIS STATE?!?! I'm not from here originally, and voted AGAINST him in my one election here so far, but how in the FREEP can the man have a THIRTY ONE PER CENT 'APPROVAL' RATING (if you can even call 31%, 'approval!') less than 6 mos. before the last election, and STILL win in a LANDSLIDE?!?!
I understand his claim to fame before this, was a mayor of Filthadelphia, which obviously makes him beholden to the Philly Mob bosses ('Nice move, ED! Fat Tony doesn't GET his guns at Wal-Mart, ya' JERKASS!!! Gun bans only make it easier for HIM to do 'bidness!'), so, technically speaking - in PA - he could win in a landslide if his approval dipped to 20 below! But HOW can you vote for a guy, when you LOOK at him (and listen to him!), & your FIRST thought is, "shouldn't he be the 2nd shift Asst. Manager at a McDonalds somewhere ('You want some FRIES with that budget deal?')?" Not that he's even smart enough to pass a McDonald's management seminar!
Short of praying for the inevitable heart attack he so richly deserves, from eating all that KFC extra crispy style, my suggestion would be, that when the SHTF, and after the PA Free Militia captures Harrisburg & the capitol, as part of our statewide celebrations, we could throw a state fair, and finally put Ed to some PRODUCTIVE work, by employing him at the 'Whack-a-Mole' booth. He can be the mole.

The guy would make a fine decoration for some lamp post.
You know who voted him in and why. Tax increases do not phase people that pay no taxes.

Re: Ed Rendell... idiot...
If PA Legislatures hadn't voted themselves a pay raise late one night, the idiot Rendell and the (very slight) Democratic majorities probably wouldn't be in office.
Rendell was a crook and incompetent as mayor...and is still a fool.Last edited by RoyJackson; July 17th, 2007 at 09:59 AM.

Re: Ed Rendell... idiot...
I know someone who till recently worked in the Gov office, and was told by them this is the most screwed up administration they ever worked for. Let's look at the facts:
1) we get more money from the feds, but because the feds are phasing out a fund that they informed us of 9+ years ago they would be doing (previous administration), Rendell claims the Feds are cutting our funding.
2) we have a MAJOR Surplus in the budget from last year, instead of cutting taxes and returning the money to the productive members of the commonwealth, we're going to look for new ways to spend it, AND increase taxes further penalizing those who are audacious enough to be contributing to the growth of the economy, and their own well being.
3) We're going to increase the budget at almost double the inflation rate (inflation is 3%, budget is increased 5%) to increase funding for schools that already have the highest per capita dollars per student in the state, but the lowest overall test scores, sure let's throw good money after bad. While they are spending money for Laptops in Philly high schools, they are cutting two highly successful education Programs in the Harrisburg (70% reduction in funding) and Lebanon (total elimination) school districts (this is the at risk special classes that have reduced crime, and drop out rates).
4)to support a failing product line (in this case mass transit) we're going to charge increased rates to people who never use the product, and most likely never will. Instead of treating it like a business and reforming it to make it profitable, and self sustaining. In addition, not only will we charge non-users, but we'll funnel 70% of that money to one location (any guesses where it will be?) If this is too obscure, I'm talking about the rate hike on the Turnpike. This money will not be used to improve the turnpike, or support other roads/ PennDOT needs, but will support mass transit, with 70% of the money going to Philly, and 20% to Harrisburg the remaining 10% will be spread out across the state.
5) We're going to pressure the party loyalists to hold up the budget AFTER it was agreed to because the Gov's pet projects (hand outs) for Philly were cut from both house and senate versions of the budget.
6) steady tax increases and mismanagement for the entirety of his term and re-election.
7) Total disregard for personal rights, the US and State Constitutions.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, which has become known, and a big part of why I started the Traitorous politician's thread. BTW, I also blame the Republican party for the defeat in the last GOV election. Not only were all available candidates very weak, they also ran a poor campaign, with very little support of the candidate, and next to no adverts in my area, till way too late, I suspect they were taking the conservative vote for granted.
Sorry, I'm done ranting for now.Last edited by theshadow; July 17th, 2007 at 10:49 AM.

Re: Ed Rendell... idiot...
Unfortunately PA Libs are the most uninformed people in regards to politics I have come across. They just "hate Bush", thats the gist of their platform. Ask them to quote a fact regarding any policy and all you get is Dem talking points which are again strictly "hate Bush".
When you look at the Liberal platform of:
1. Higher Taxes
2. Higher Taxes
3. Socialist Agendas
4. Abortion
5. Environmental whackoism
6. Higher taxes
It's a very sad state of affairs and Eddie is leading the charge.

Re: Ed Rendell... idiot...
I come from Ny and I see this sate going the same route as NY did. NY city destroyed NYS. If PA doesnt wake up it will be destroyed by Philadelphia. You can see the start of it. high taxes and beholded to the inner city welfare state mentality. Once it gets a grip the state is done with. It is like an octopus it grabs you and strangles you till you are dead.
ETA: The liberals come here to get away from the liberal mess they created but they are so stupid they start to create a new mess and wind up destroying the place they came to.

Re: Ed Rendell... idiot...
Funny you say that. I just got this email from Sam Rohrer. I've been getting ones from him and Metcalf, even though I'm not where near them I musta done a poll or something.
He highlights some points, welfare spending is out of control! along with new taxes and just spending in general.
Rohrer Votes No On Zero-Sense, Instant Spending-Gratification, Debt-Multiplying State Budget
Due to more than $1.3 billion in new state spending, Representative Sam Rohrer (R-Berks) had no choice but to vote against the $27.5 billion, 2007-08 state budget. All totaled, this year’s budget represents a 5.3 percent spending increase over last year’s budget.
“Despite over-optimistic claims on both sides on the aisle, this year’s budget is a cleverly concealed defeat that can in no way be declared a victory for state taxpayers,” said Rohrer. “For the fifth consecutive year of the Rendell Administration, the final 2007-08 state budget is once again unrestrained, irresponsible, unreasonable and neglects the duty that the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the governor’s office has to be the voice of reason for the people of Pennsylvania.”
Some of the more than $6 billion in new borrowing and other excessive spending contained in or connected to the 2007-08 state budget, rejected by Rohrer include:
$11.5 billion in total welfare spending—($9.7 billion in general fund public welfare spending and $1.8 billion in special state funds earmarked for the Department of Public Welfare). Over the last ten years, General Fund Welfare spending has increased by $4.1 Billion. All totaled welfare spending under the Rendell Administration (through the 2007-08 Budget) accounts for more than 75 percent of that total ($3.1 Billion).
$5 billion in approved new borrowing by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, 25 percent higher state turnpike tolls and new tolls on Interstate 80.
$165 million for the governor’s pet laptop computer and taxpayer-funded pre-kindergarten programs that will cost taxpayers billions of dollars in additional property taxes and potentially force many privately chartered and religious schools to close.
“Clearly, the governor wanted more spending, more borrowing, and more tax increases and apparently the House Democrat majority shares the same fiscally irresponsible priorities because they did nothing to stand in opposition,” said Rohrer. “Unfortunately, the majority of State Senators who talked a fiscally responsible game up to a few short days ago, sent virtually the same message by concurring that if there is a budget surplus spend it today, rather than saving it for the fiscal obligations of tomorrow.
“Not one Senator who also endorsed spending every available dollar far beyond any reasonable inflationary measure and agreeing to unacceptable borrowing providing it is postponed to the fall should escape the wrath of Pennsylvania taxpayers who are the ultimate victims of this unprincipled all bark, no bite, cave in. In the end, it’s not how one starts the race that counts, its how one finishes.”
In addition to not keeping state spending in line with the current rate of inflation and spending away the $650 million dollar surplus over the next two years rather than returning it to taxpayers or leaving it in the Rainy Day Fund for confirmed future fiscal obligations, Rohrer also rejected this year’s budget because it provides the governor with an open invitation for billions of dollars in additional borrowing through negotiated special voting sessions later this fall.
“Just because, the governor was denied seven new tax increases and billions of dollars in new borrowing in July, does not mean he will not get to check off all the items on his fiscally irresponsible wish list well before the General Assembly adjourns for Christmas break in December,” said Rohrer. “What about the $14 billion in GASB 45 requirements which the governor has neglected to address in this year’s budget and the $8 to $12 billion in pension obligations due in 2011 which must be paid?
“It would have been much more responsible to anticipate these future expenses and start putting away any surplus revenue to meet these obligations now, rather than continuing to hold future state budget negotiations and/or employees hostage for a massive tax increase. As a result, the end of the Rendell administration cannot come soon enough for Pennsylvania taxpayers.”
According to Rohrer, for every $100 million of bonds issued, it will cost future state taxpayers more than $8 million per year for 20 years to repay that debt (assuming a flat interest rate of 5 percent). Through 2007, Pennsylvania already owes $8.5 billion in bonded debt.
“In light of Pennsylvania’s more than three decades of property tax and educational funding crises, the governor’s outright refusal to rein in out-of-control state spending and borrowing is absolutely unacceptable,” said Rohrer. “Instead of honoring a multitude of public pledges to reform or simply putting aside excess taxpayer revenue for known future costs, House Democrats and the governor refuse to curb their insatiable desire to start more unnecessary new programs that will of course require new spending, new borrowing and new taxes in the future. That simply makes zero sense, which is why this year’s final state budget can once again be summed up as instant spending gratification with no fiscal restraint.”
