CMP - Sorry, no more surplus ammo available
Looks like the CMP store has finally run out of surplus ammo. Hope you Garand and 1903A3 owners have a large supply, or reload, or you may have to start buying factory 30-06 at $20 a box.
OOPs, posted this in the wrong section. Please feel free to move it. Thanks!

Re: CMP - Sorry, no more surplus ammo available
I saw the same thing on CMP's Web site. I shot my M1 Garand this past Sunday (I got a one inch group at 100 yds). I had to use my friend's ammo.

Re: CMP - Sorry, no more surplus ammo available
I put in my CMP order 5 days before the "no more ammo" announcement.
I ordered an M1 Garand and 5 cases of ammo.
I originally had 10 cases on the order form and had to reprint it, as I told myself I wouldn't go hogwild with ammo yet again.
If I only knew...
Good thing is the ammo shipped quickly and I'm going to the Fedex depot today to pick up the 5 cases.
I do plan on saving the brass and reloading, once I actually get the Garand.

At least in house orders will be filled. Been waiting on .30 Carbine ammo since May.

Their forums note that they will most likely get another boatload (literally) of ammo from Greece - the same place they got their last lot. However, something tells me the price is going to go up considerably.
"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

Re: CMP - Sorry, no more surplus ammo available
Well - it was common knowledge that certain of our West PA gunshow dealers would take their flatbeds over to Camp Perry and stock up - for resale at the shows.
The biggest culprit - you've seen him in his little ghey-assed black leather vest - always had scads of cans at the Wash Cty show and PGCA shows. Even overheard him whining about recent limits he got popped with on his last visit to Camp Ammo.
Glad the "public" CMP was acting as his personal "RSR" or "RGuns" or "SOG".
Too bad for everyone else.

Not good. I think there is enough demand to bring the price down. IIRC, the ammo out there now is Federal that is stamped Greek.
