Allentown courthouse
I went down to the A-town courthouse to visit the Sheriff's office. I needed to get a new copy of my LTCF because my old one was getting so worn out you could barely make out my picture. I was fully expecting a major hassle at security knowing that there is no way they'd have lockers set up during the extensive construction going on there. I walked up to the badge at security who asked me to empty my pockets. I informed him I was carrying. He said "no problem" and asked to see my badge. I informed him that I wasn't LE but that I was licensed to carry. Again he said "no problem". He then apologized for not having lockers available and said he'd call an escort for me, which he did. About 5 minutes later a deputy shows up, smiles, and asks where I'm headed. I told him, and he walked me up to the office. We were chatting the entire time, it was very friendly. I got the license straightened out (again, no drama) and he walked me back down. We shook hands and went our separate ways.
They never asked for my LTCF, and they never asked to see my weapon. It was an incredibly pleasant experience.

Now stop me if I'm wrong, but having the deputy escort you to where you were going may NOT have covered you against prosocution if you were in a prohibited area. IMNAL, but this is a possibility.

Just what I was thinking also. There is no gray area in the statute about weapons needing to be secured in a locker and certainly no mention of a deputy escorting a person if lockers are not available.
I understand their reason for doing this, but I would have been concerned about how it does not follow the law.

Re: Allentown courthouse
I seem to remember there being a post where an individual went to the sheriff's office to take off their holstered sidearm to lock it up. I don't know what county it was.
