    Default Internet Fraud

Does anyone know to whom I can report an attempt at internet fraud/scam?
In trying to sell a car via craigslist I got a come one from a growing scam. A buyer agrees to purchase the item "for her boss" and asks for name, mailing address and phone number(s). Included in the check will be shipping cost as the car is going to be transported to another state. What happens next is a check for more than the agreed upon price shows up, then a call from "the secretary" asking for the extra....minus $100 for my trouble...to be returned. The hope on their part is that I send the "extra". Believe it or not, this scam works. Just not with me. I won't even send my info for shits and giggles cause I know at the least I'll end up on a mailing/spam/calling list. So......anyone out there know who I can contact?

A while back I got the one in the mail with a very real looking check for partial payment on my Canadian Lottery winnings. All I had to do was deposit the check and send them via Western Union my tax liability, and processing fees, which I could take out of the partial payment and still have some left to "pursue my dreams". I must have some cheap dreams, all that would have been left was 2 grand. Funny thing is, I hadn't been to Canada in 6 years. Or ever bought a lottery ticket there. I don't even know if they have a lottery.

There isn't really anything you can do. There are THOUSANDS of these occuring every day. Just be wise and don't be a victim. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

I believe the fbi has a link. Must I think it's mostly interstate problems..

The US Postal Inspection Service has jurisdiction.
