Default Take someone in under your wing.

PAFOA RELOADING Forum members, we have a recurring problem in this forum. There are threads constantly here concerned with these issues of "How do I..." or "I loaded xxx and it doesn't seem to work....", or "What is a good starting load for....?"

The problem, as I see it, is:

    New guy gets reloading bug
    New guy gets reloading equipment
    New guy gets reloading components

New guy gets stuck with problem or question or is concerned about unsafe priactice (or not) . . . . . . .

All resultant of lack of experience and familiarity with reloading process.

    I propose a solution:

Members here who have some experience may be willing to invite a new reloader over to see/use reloading gear in operation.

We should be able to draw on our experience to make the process easier and safer for the neophyte. This would enhance the safety aspect, and boost the confidence factor enormously. This would also expand the reloader community significantly and make it more enjoyable for all concerned. Further, it would also acquaint us with each other more personally and enhance and solidify the "POOFA" state of mind.

I am volunteering myself to mentor reloaders, (as soon as I get my reloading bench set up again. Like next month. )

    Bottleneck rifle (30-06, 303 Brit, 5.56 308Win)
    Pistol single - stage press and progressive LEE LOADMASTER(38SPL, 357MAG, 9mm Parabellum, 44Spec, 44MAG, 45ACP)
    12 & 20 ga shotgun.

    Any other thoughts????

I just don't see so much of a problem. The posts aren't even that common, couple a week at most.

Plus, your parents should have taught you that inviting strangers over to your house is a bad idea!

I'll help, I reload .223, .260 rem, .260 rem AI, .308 win, 30-30win, 6.5 Grendel, .338 lapua magnum(the real .338), .40S&W, and some other ones I can't think of right now. Anyhow, yeah, as long as they are not creepers, I'll take someone under my wing...I just watched the movie Role Models, so I'm feeling generous. Just bring me some beer, vodka, khalua, or milk. I have everything needed to make awesome rounds.

    Flash,

As a first generation gun owner, hunter and reloader....I can really appreciate what you're doing. These things have only been possible by other people teaching me along the way. I just gotta stay sponge like and soak it all up

    I'd volunteer to help someone.

    I load .223, .243 win, .257 Roberts, 38 spl, .45 auto

i have dies to do others like .270, 7mm rem mag, .358 win mag, .41 mag, and 30.06. i just don't load for them at the moment.
i should be getting 9mm, .357 sig, 40 s&w, and .308 win dies soon so i'll be loading for those as well.

I would just ask that whoever i help provide the components like bullets primers, etc.

This sounds like a good way to help someone new to the game and a good way to make some new shooting friends at the same time.

Count me in. I have some 70 sets of dies. Most common and some uncommon calibers.

Count me in. Of course, I'd have to meet the person at the range or somewhere first before I'd think about letting someone in my house. I reload 9mm, .40 S&W, 38 SPL/.357 mag, .45 ACP, .223, and 30-06. I also have dies for 7.62x39mm and .243 win, I just haven't gotten around to reloading them yet.

Either bring your own components to reload, or I'll teach you how to reload with my components for me to shoot... you'll just walk away with the knowledge to do it yourself!

Also, what the hell is poofa??? Is that the accepted vernacular for pafoa? I just say it: P - A - F - O - A. I've heard it a few other places on this forum as well. I just can't figure out how you could get poofa out of pafoa. Poofa sounds more like a retro hair care product than an organization. lol
