Western Field
I just picked up a western field 807A-ECH. Its a single shot 22 bolt action that was sold by Wards. Anyone know anything about them? What should I expect for accuracy. It is in fair to good condtion. I paid $75 and got a set of rings thrown in on it. Did I get a good deal? My research shows it was made by colt and called the colteer SS in the colt line.

Re: Western Field
All of the old single shots like the Colteer were pretty accurate, you should be happy with it, give it a good cleaning.
Did a look around real quick, here is one for sale on Gunsamerica.....for $335!!!!....is this thing rare or something?

Another one for sale here...Description..."Colt Colteer I-22 .22 LR caliber rifle. Scarce Colt bolt action rifle in excellent condition. Made from 1957-66 only....$395.00 " ...link to sale site: http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/ad...xtfield=rifles
If these are the same rifles and if this is what they go for, I would say you did real good.Last edited by 762xIan; October 18th, 2009 at 04:39 PM.

Re: Western Field
I'd say, if you paid 75 and rings and the other guns are going for 335+. I'd say you got a helluva deal.

As an example, several years back I passed on a J.C Higgins bolt action. It was a standard gun, nothing fancy, but in nice shape and clean. J.C. Higgins is one of the old Sears house brand names. Guy wanted a little over $100 for it.
Turns out it was a Browning FN 300, made by Browning for Sears.....a very nice and pretty valuable rifle...IF you know what it is!!! I didn't and I kick myself to this day for not buying it."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775
