Sig lubrication?
I have a question for all you sig owners, I have a p229 that I just got and have been reading about lubrication and others using slide glide and such when I never uesed this type of product before on my pistols, I have always used hoppes oil, do sigs need a wetter lub more than just oil?

Re: Sig lubrication?
I use Breakfree CLP or weapons shield on all my sigs and I haven't had a problem in 20 years.

Re: Sig lubrication?
I normally run CLP on all my pistols.
I have tried running the red wheel bearing grease that James Yeager from Tactical Response recommends. It worked great, but with winter coming on I think I'll stick with the CLP.

Re: Sig lubrication?
I second the CLP motion. The fun part about CLP is that if you use it for along enough period of time and do not use a solvent on that same surface, a film of teflon builds up and slicks up the works.

Re: Sig lubrication?
Go to www.sigforum.com, go to the armorer link and search grease and lube. You will find lots of info. Fwiw, I lightly grease the rails for range time. I lightly oil the moving parts too. When I am carrying, I wipe most of the grease/oil off, leaving a very fine film.
Ok, found what I was looking for: http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc...35/m/908103701Last edited by Grumpa72; October 15th, 2009 at 09:10 AM. Reason: added info

Re: Sig lubrication?
I posted this link in a thread a few weeks ago.

If you aren't familiar with Grayguns, Bruce Gray is the top Sig gunsmith in the country.
I lube the rails of my Sigs generously with TW-25B http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/review/mil-comm_users.htm and I use Hoppes oil on key other moving parts.

Re: Sig lubrication?
I use Weaponshield on the pistols and on the rails I use Weaponshield grease in a syringe aplicator that Rocketfoot sells. Works like a charm for me so far.

Am I the only one who uses Red wheel bearing grease on my P226 combat to a great success?
