Default Slow responding between threads, etc.

The forum seems to be very slow responding lately. When I click on a thread it takes a good while (5-20 secs) to get there or going to a new page or when backing out to get to another area. I see (in the lower left corner) things like ... avantlink, or ...pubads, or readforum.pafoa.org and other things while it's working.

I know it's not my computer because other forums are as fast as they ever were and it's not just on one computer, but the one at work and my laptop and my computers at home all do this. Also, it is happening on both IE and Firefox.

Just thought I'd bring it up to see if others are having this problem. Is it because we are so big now ?

I've been noticing the same thing lately, sometimes it's a little bit slow to load a page and sometimes it's slower than moles asses in January. I figured it's because of the amount of traffic on the site. It even seems slow in the wee hours of the morning.
It isn't painfully slow like my health insurance company's web site, but it does seem to be noticeably slower than it used to be.
If there's a tweak that I can make to my computer or browsers to help speed things up a bit I'm willing to try it.

    Or this?:

    Or maybe this?:

Thanks but I think I can put up with waiting a few extra seconds.

When reporting these things, if you can include dates and times, that would be very helpful. It may help us correlate lag to known issues or traffic spikes.

It just seems like it's slower in general than it was just a few months ago. Sometimes it's pretty noticeable and sometimes it's even slower than noticeable.
Traffic was one of my first suspicions but one thing that did happen is that I had a computer crash and I thought that maybe the way my new computer is set up had something to do with it but when I saw that someone else mentioned it I thought I'd chime in.
I'll try to pay attention and give you something better to look at as far as when it seems to be better or worse.
I'm still thinking that my computer may be at least partly to blame. A little bit? A lot?? I don't know.
If I get a chance to sneak to an internet connected computer at work this evening I'll see how it responds.

As always, thank you for being alert to the wants and concerns of the forum members.

Of course, a few hours after I wrote the post, now it's working like it used to . I will also note when I see the slowdowns and will try to get the correct statements that I see down in the lower left of my screen.

Dan, 1 example, mine was slow from 7AM today (10/14) until 4 PM today. I am one from 7 to 8 solid and 12 noon to 1 and pop in and out about once an hour just to catch up on threads that I haven't relly been following. It was slow all day. Any time I clicked on something, it took about 20 seconds for it to go to what I wanted to see or to get out of what I was looking at. Now it's 7:33 PM and it is as fast as I am used to seeing.

FWIW... I am usually on throughout the day from the same computer and have not noticed any difference in response speed lately.

I've been having quick response time since I posted a few days ago. The one thing that's different is an upgrade to my computer. I'm running XP and I installed service pack 3 since I made the comment. Maybe that made the difference, I don't know. I wish the timing would have been a little bit different but at any rate I'm happier now.
