    Default Prices Plummeting

Just a head's up for anyone in the market for AKs.

Since the height of "obama-panic" early in the year, to summer, to now, prices have drastically dropped. Some AKs have dropped $150 to $200 in the past two months. Demand is down, and the supply is high. Yugos underfolders at centerfire are $450 for example, something I never thought I'd see again.

I am really surprised by Lancaster's price adjustments (look recent):

    http://www.lancasterarms.com/

AK-74s for $599, and $499 if you don't want the fancy finish. I bring this up because there are a lot of TGI 74s out there for around the same price- and those were basically slapped together in some guy's garage (the rivets/bolts, etc). I'm sure they will shoot fine (just like AKs shoot fine in Pakistan after being beat with hammers), but the quality won't be as high as Lancaster.

On top of that it looks like Lancaster knocked $100 minimum off almost all rifles on the web site. Just something to consider if you're in the market.

They are also offering milled 74s soon?

It's just a sign of the times. The panic buying is over and they have a lot of inventory. So, they still need to make a living so they lower the prices. It's all suppy and demand - usually works pretty good at setting prices.

Hopefully, this is a sign that things may be going back to pre-O normal, but does anyone know what "normal" is anymore?

It has already gone back to pre O prices. AIM has wasr GP10/63's for $379 and a boat load of places are selling colt 6920's in the $1100 range.

    7.62x39 ammo is down to about $220 1k and 5.56 is $350.

I hope it still goes lower - and i think it just might.

With panic buying over, the hard economy is starting to settle into the firearms industry.

Everyone that maxed out their credit cards buying 10K rounds each of 5 different calibers of ammo and the rifles/handguns to go with it are now paying those credit card bills instead of spending that money at the local shop.

A ton of shops have ordered a ton of weaponry, fully anticipating that the surge would continue for three more years.

When I bought my pistol in January, the store had no EBRs. Over the weekend, the one store I visited had about three dozen in different brand, size, shape, and flavor.

In January, the shelves were only 2/3 full of handguns. Over the weekend, the store had brought in a new display case because the row of original cases were overflowing.

As a result, prices are going down pretty steadily. It's a good time to have some extra cash, which brings us to another reason prices are going down: nearly 20% of us are unemployed and just don't have the cash to buy new toys or ammo.

Kind of funny that Dunham's finally INCREASED the price of WASR AKs.

Last Thanksgiving I picked mine up for $350, now they are "on sale" for $479.
Their "regular price" was $599 a month ago and now it's $650.(Yes, I know their regular prices are inflated)

Seems like someone was asleep in the pricing department and missed out on the "panic pricing".
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Give the fine folks at Classicarms a few more weeks and they'll get the rumor mill rolling again.
