Re: been gone a while... update!
Congratulations on all points! We moved into a new construction house this year in Florida and I foolishly thought I wouldn't have to do anything. Already had to paint the hallway and an accent wall in the living room.
I have found that good brushes are your friend when painting!

yeah, this place had CRAP for paint. we are painting EVERYTHING, and a couple walls have shades of red, so 3 coats were needed here and there.

Re: been gone a while... update!
Welcome to my hell (well Tootie and my hell).
We bought our place in 1996 after renting it for a year and MAN did it have problems.
Since then we have had almost every wall out of it, repainted every square inch of it, removed non usable chimneys, moved walls, built a deck, new roof, new front porch, 4 tri-axles of dirt hauled in and a yard created, kitchen taken down to the studs and redone ... trust me it never ends.
What makes you nuts though, is when you re-do something and it looks great, but the next part of the room (or next room) now looks like crap because the work you did looks so good ....... ARG, the life of a homeowner!

Good luck with your new place.
When it comes to brushes, get either a brush made by Wooster or one at MAB paints with a MAB sleeve on it. Either one is an excellent choice. MAB is my favorite choice. I have been a painter since 1994 and these have worked well for me. Some people swear by an angled sash brush, I prefer a straight 2.5 inch brush for everything. It is only a tool and I can manipulate that tool to do what I want/need it to do.Your freedom to be you includes my freedom to be free from you. -Andrew Wilkow

been using wooster angled and straight 2.5 and 3 inchers...
i HATE PAINTING... but downstairs is DONE. upstairs is half way done! office is next..
this is a new construction house, so there is a lot of odds and ends to do and some big stuff as well. need a much bigger patio. we have half an acre, so the 12 by 12 patio is NOT going to cut it. i want a back deck for the master bedroom and a BBQ pit and pond in the back yard... pluss a shed... and the driveway needs to be bigger... lol it will never stop! This Space For Rent
