Congrats on the quick LTCF. Don't forget to vote for Sheriff "Duke" Donnelly.

Welcome aboard. Now that you have an LTCF, it is time for some training. Go pick up a strong side holster for your 66 (fine gun in my opinion), a handful of speedloaders (I recommend Safariland Comp-2's) and a speed loader pouch.

After you get the gear, look around the page and find some training near you. Training from a good instructor is not only worth the money, it is invaluable.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I won't be carrying the 66 around, except to and from the range. I might get myself a much smaller weapon for occasional CC though, and before I do that, I will be sure to get some good training. I have had a bit of training in shooting and pistol combat techniques, but unfortunately, there was no focus on holster/carry issues.

I see your in Newtown. I'm across the creek in Northampton. If you want some trigger time on a few 12g. drop me a line, I'm a member of Langhorne Rod and Gun Club (LRGC) and will take you over there as a guest. I do clays there regularly and can be found there almost every Thursday night for Trap Night.

To the OP: may have to look you up, I'm moving to Newtown myself next month. FWIW, Classic Pistol looks like they have a lot of good courses, I'm planning on joining them as a member.

To the rest of you: is the process at the courthouse in Doylestown just as quick if I want the old paper permit for $29? I have a couple of current passport photos, and I figure I'll save the $17 for now (and not waste those passport photos). Besides, I have the ability to laminate it and a wallet that can hold the larger permit...

As far as I know, Bucks doesn't do paper permits anymore.

I've been going to Classic Pistol. Nice range, nice people, reasonable prices. I'll probably end up joining, unless I can find a club that also has outdoor ranges for a similar cost.

From the Bucks County Sheriff Website www.buckscouny,org :

Fee for a license to carry is $46.00. Cash only, no personal checks will be accepted. The license is valid for five years from date of issue. An upgrade to the new plastic card from the present paper permit is $21.00. Paper permits are still available for $29.00 (two digital photos required, available at our offices for $10).

Don'f forget to vote for "Duke" Donnelly for Sheriff.

I think Classic Pistol is hands down the best Indoor Range in Lower Bucks County.

As ERSwann said, Langhorne Rod and Gun Club is a great Outdoor range. PM one of us and we can take you for a visit to see if you like it.

Thanks. Time is a bit tight for a while, but I'll definitely have to take you up on that offer at some point.
