Waiting for CC

Hello Guys,
Great Website!

I am waiting for my CC from Monroe County, its been 31 days. Dont want to call them to disrupt anything, but does anyone know why it would take this long?..

I already purchased ( 2 ) hand guns with Background check with no problem just wondering if anyone can help out or are they just backed up?

The issuance of your License to Carry Firearms (LTCF) can take up to 45 days by law. Allegheny County took the whole time for mine.

Why?

Maybe due to load - i.e. large number of applications.
Maybe they need to investigate something that came up in your PICS check.

But would that come up on my PICS when I purchased the guns A Month ago??? they still issued the weapons to me the same day after the check..

or maybe they simply use up all the time they can. Seems to me like several counties do this. It seems like a simple process.

Mine took two weeks from Bradford, and had a note of apology from Sheriff Evans about the delay. It apparantly got lost among other papers.

I believe that, except for the rare case where there is actually something to investigate, your LTCF should be issued on the spot. Ten minutes worth of your time. Or perhaps if busy then return the next day to pick it up.

I would say it's taking as longer then normal because of everyone getting them.

The Monroe Count Sheriff likes to take the full 45 days to process a LTCF application, I don't know why but he does. So in 2 more weeks you will have your License. In the mean time you can OC as long as you're on foot and don't get into or on any vechicle.

I just didnt want to think something was wrong because they already issued me Weapons and a background check came back good..

I think the Sheriff here just likes to use up as much time as they can, though I'm not sure why since they never seem to have problems with anyone getting one. I doubt they're that backed up with them, though the Sheriff's office doesn't seem to have many employees (and definitely none that work quickly) so they just do everything slowly.
Also, have you checked with your references to see when they sent the questionnaire back. Maybe that is slowing the process down.
If they were going to reject you, you would know by now, so don't worry and keep an eye on the mailbox! Hope it comes soon.

I figured as much, my references sent card back the same time exactly a month ago. Thanks for the help you guys are making me feel alot better..
