I think he was pretty cool to do that. The kids are used to being told to clear out, turn down that crap, etc. He gained respect and got to know a few kids along the way. Few of those kids will give that cop any lip down the road because he showed...and in return got respect. That leads to a trust and any of those kids who might find themselves in the center of a situation will turn to that cop and feel safe to talk to him.
