Jester gets revenge!

His revenge came today, as near as I can tell. I was out bush hogging the fields, and driving the tractor from one field to the other, I saw this out of the corner of my eye.

It scared the crap out of me until I realized he was not among the living anymore, and I was not a potential target atop a very slow moving tractor. My next thought was the dog. Maybe he was stinky again, sacrificing his joie de vivre to end that of the skunk.

I parked the tractor well away from the skunk, and tentatively called the dog to my side. He bounded up with a smile on his face, and no smell beyond his usual doggy breath. The funny thing is, the skunk didn't really smell all that bad either - for being dead and all. Usually one can smell them for a long way off. This guy, with his feet sticking in the air, only had a faint whiff of skunkiness about him from a distance of about 10 feet. The dog is safely inside now, and it looks like I will be able to dispose of the skunk with the proverbial 10' pole. A lady at the county extension agent suggested I bury the animal, but I have a treeline, and a neighbor downwind who really makes my life miserable sometimes.
