Hi from a new member
Just wanted to stop in and say hi. As long as I've been into guns, and self defense I'm surprised I didn't join sooner. A little background on me, 1st off I'm a Philly cop, and I share many of the same views as most members on here. I'm 100% for the right to carry and defend yourself. My collection includes a Glock 21sf I use on duty, Glock 19, Ruger GP100 .357, S+W .38 Model 60 Chiefs Special (stainless), Keltech P3AT .380, 1911 .45, Bushmaster AR, and a Mossberg 590 MarineCoat.

Welcome.
Please, if you can, lend some inside insight about why the PPD is the way it is.

Re: Hi from a new member
Most police here aren't even aware of OC. There lies the issue which comes down to training. I've never encountered anyone open-carrying, if its securely in a holster I don't see a problem. I also don't think it would be unreasonable to ask for a permit, since that is a requirement to OC here. Also I've never worked with anyone to my knowledge that encountered somebody OCing, or have even heard third hand of officers encountering somebody OCing. Its rare here based on my experience, and because of that you get P/O's that don't know how to take it. I never knew the laws concering OC until I checked on sites like this.

Re: Hi from a new member
First, welcome to the forum. Be glad to have here to help educate both sides.
So now my first question, what reason would you have to ask for a LTCF if the person is OCing. This is a violation of the OCers rights.
I will give you the benefit of not having the MPOTEC training, so please get the training and study the MPOTEC training manuel to know the OCers rights so you do not violate them and end up being sued personally. Just a little friendly advice.Last edited by cgbudde; September 28th, 2009 at 07:59 PM.

Its not a violation to ask. It would be a problem If I detained that person based on that alone.
