    Default Bullseye Shooting Range

    What ever happened to them?
I was just clearing out an old dayplanner and found a flyer. Their prices were a bit steep. What actually closed them down. Competion w/Greater Pitt?

they went out of business prolly...oh, maybe a year ago or longer.

my guess is that their prices and the fact that they were just an indoor range (which really limits what you can do) put them out of business. iirc, they were a more than just a "little steep" (i seem to remember $25 per hour), but i dunno.

I had also heard that one of their financial backers had passed and his esptate became tied up in probate court. Not sure the truth about that. I know that was one of the reasons they initially delayed opening after speaking to them one night out there.

It was started by a small group of guys drawing on a napkin in a bar (seriously). They started it up and ran it into the ground financially. One the owners brothers bought the business to help him out.

This brother hired a CEO who didn't know squat about the firearms business. He tried to cater to the small wealthy sector of Pittsburgh. Needless to say the wealthy didn't support this business plan and the final owner just quit investing until they ran out of money and credit.

They closed down almost four years ago.

The building is vacant because it's an environmental nightmare to reopen.

I was a pretty nice place. Definitely steep. It was something like $400 /yr for a family membership, plus you had to buy their ammo.

They had sections that you can do low light and raining simulations. I do remember that they had a video game where you actually used your pistol instead of the typical plastic one to get points.

One good thing they had were rentals. I wish there were more places around that did this. I enjoy being able to shoot guns I might like to purchase.

The only one that I know of is Anthony Arms.

Group Shoots once a month at PMSC is the next best thing. It only cost $5 for non members and you can shoot tons of different guns.

Bullseye was extremely expensive. Personally, I always enjoyed a day at GPGC when it was empty. I never knew that shady things were going on there... Just didn't see it...

I've gotten a little "scuff" from the guys at Anthony Arms before. I stopped in once a couple years ago after helping a relative move and clean out a garage in Munhall. I was by no means disrespectfully dirty or disheveled, but I got treated like I was a bum. I was really offended when I got the, "You sure you can pay for that"-look when I asked about a specific Rem 700 in .300 Ultramag that'd I'd looked at elsewhere. (I've been telling myself it'll be my "Africa rifle" but I can shoot black bear with it in the interim.)

I was offended in a weird way. Kinda like when I was younger and bought my first new car... You know, when the guys at the dealership assume things... I had to unfortunately still patronize them for a silicon cloth because I'd promised my brother I'd bring him one. So, I guess I did look like a hobo. I asked to look at a scope and rifle that'd run me about $2k after customization, then bought a $3.99 silicon rag with crumpled cash. haha...
