Marlin 94 headspace problems
I have a model 1894P and often shoot some fairly stout loads out of it. I noticed that I can continue push the bolt forward after the action closed. It does not move much but it is noticable, maybe 0.025". Is this a common problem with this marlin design? I had a Rossi 92 and that action always stayed tight. I'm thinking of taking to a gunsmith before I start trying new loads for this deer season.

Re: Marlin 94 headspace problems
i had a 94C in 357 mag years ago that developed the same issue. the 94 design has a single rear locking lug that must be developing play in these cases. sold the gun rather than mess with it. check your cases with a paper clip bent at 90* to see if you are getting case stretch just ahead of the base. you will be able to "feel" a thinning of the casewall.
