fondling a few classics
oiled these two guys this morning.
top is a 1914 commerical with a name on the back strap.
he was an artillery officer during the great war, and survived. the pistol was then captured during the second war. would love to know were it was in between the two events....other than the refinish on it. not many made that year, something about a police action taking place on the continent soaking up military arms??
bottom is a 1911, that was issued to a medical train during the first war, per the unit mark on it.
there is guy in norway that has a pistol that is less than 100 serial numbers away from this one, also from the same unit.....which is impressive in that only a few thousand were produced that year.
the luger forum is pretty sharp.
both are dwm's. other than mags numbers match, grips have been replaced to avoid damage during handling.
the 1911 gets shot...rarely.
the 1914 comes out for special eventsLast edited by brian; September 26th, 2012 at 05:24 PM.
