Attempted Robbery Turns Fatal In New Eagle

NEW EAGLE (KDKA) ― An attempted robbery turned fatal in Washington County early Friday morning, when the victim fired a handgun at one of the attackers.

According to police, William Eyles, 25, and Cole MacFarlane, 25, conspired to rob Joseph Gallick around 2:45 a.m. on Applewood Drive in New Eagle.

During the robbery, Gallick pulled out a handgun, fired it at Eyles and struck him twice in the trunk.

Eyles was flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center where he was pronounced dead.

MacFarlane was arrested and charged with a general count of criminal homicide, criminal attempt to commit robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery and criminal mischief. He is being lodged at the Washington County Jail.

Gallick was treated at Monogahela Hospital for injuries sustained during the robbery attempt.

Somehow, someway, some scumbag lawyer is going to turn this around and make the criminals the victims. In cases like this there should be no charges what so ever against the victim, and they should be immune to civil law suits in cases like this. Good to see that the good guy won and sent a message to dip shits that some people refuse to be victims. Thank God he lived in a State the affords him the opportunity to protect himself. Here, he'd be the one that's dead, go figure.

Actually it's a pretty standard to charge any living participant of a violent crime with murder when any of the co-conspirators or victims of the crime wind up dead.
