    Default Measuring barrel length?

Have a single shot, that I want to use in a block shoot that's got a 30" maximum. Do I measure it from the entire barrel length or is it from where the front of the shell would end?

probably just gonna have to take it and let them measure

Typically, barrel length is measured from the bolt/breach face when the action is closed.

Revolvers are measured from the front of the cylinder

Being a single shot, open it up and measure that. A single shot, o/u, SxS shotgun is measured from the front of the barrel to the rear of the chamber as it is all one piece. A pump or semi auto is measured from the front of the barrel to the front of the chamber (basically the front of the bolt when the action is closed).

    That's what I thought, but wasn't sure.

So what kind of SS is it? I have both a Encore and a Contender but with a 30"+ barrel it sounds like you have something more interesting.

Just a old Eastern Arms single shot with a (now I figured it out) 30" barrel

Basically a Sears brand that was sold pre 1940, that could have been made by who knows depending on the year

It was likely made by Stevens. For some odd reason I was thinking this was a rifle. Never mind it was posted in the shotgun section. Doh on me!
