Just received my LTCF but I have a question
So, I received my letter today to come and get my LTCF from the Sheriff and I did. This is my first time applying for this license. For those that are curious about how long it took it I live in Delaware County and it took 48 days (counting weekends) to receive the notification by mail. The question that I have is concerning what is written in bold lettering on the paper they sent me notifying me to pick up the LTCF. It says ...
"Your permit is good in the STATE of Pennsylvania only."
My question is, does this really mean that I am restricted to PA? I'm still able to carry in states that honor the PA LTCF, no?

Re: Just received my LTCF but I have a question
It's good for PA and any state the PA has reciprocity with.
I suspect some folks have been carrying out of state (MD, NJ) and getting in trouble. They may have thought other states automatically recognize the LTCF as they do driver's licenses.

Re: Just received my LTCF but I have a question
You might be right. I guess it's just too much ink to print something like "Your permit is good in the state of Pennsylvania and ONLY those states which honor the PA license."
Eh, anyway, thanks Roy.

Re: Just received my LTCF but I have a question
To directly answer your questions: Yes, you can carry concealed in other states that honor your PA LTCF and open in states that allow open carry (some require a LTCF for OC)
For concealed carry please refer to the below.

Your letter says what it says because it is only a PA permit, the fact that other states honor a PA permit is beyond the scope of the PA permit and the Sheriff's dept role in issuing them. The issuing of permits is done without concern of current reciprocity.
BUT, to be honest, if your sheriff is as smart as most other county sheriff's he probably doesn't even know what the word "reciprocity" even means, so that could be the reason it says that tooLast edited by Pa. Patriot; June 28th, 2007 at 07:03 PM.
