M1 Garand for the rifle. (Or M1A/M14 larger magazine size)

And i would have to say back to the 1911 for the side arm.

    I love those old firearms.

I'm gonna go with maybe, how about, any guns still made in the good ole USA?

While they still make 'em here.

Hmm, this is a hard one. For the sake of cost, the AK (chambered in 556 w/steel case). There would need to be some upgrades to the selector and irons sights, but feel that this would be a good choice as it is VERY reliable and accurate enough for combat (mine shoots under 2MOA).

If for whatever reason we had the coin, the HK 416 would be my first choice for followed by the 417 (308).

The reason that I chose gas piston operated weapons VS the current issue, is because it handles two things very well. Dirt/dust and doesn't need to be cleaned like the M16 family of weapons does. This is a big deal as troops generally treat their weapon like the would treat their lawnmower.

For a HG, I would have to go with a Glock or M&P.

Yep...concur...except the standard trigger for the G17 would suffice...and NO EXTERNAL SAFETY
