Gun Industry statistics needed for research paper
Hey everybody,
I'm working on a research paper for school on the gun industry. It's not political but is more of an economic profile of the industry itself.
Does anybody know where I can find statistics on sales numbers? There's lots of different blog postings out there but those aren't going to be considered reliable sources.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Try going to the National Association of Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers, Inc. www.amfire.com or the Professional Gun Retailers Association (PGRA, Inc., 401 E. Las Olas Blvd, #348, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, 33301) They may be able to help.

Check the NSSF research page at http://www.nssf.org/IndustryResearch/stats.cfm
I used this info to write a paper a while back.

American Firearms is the world's largest association for firearms retailers. They have crime statistics as well as firearms production statistics.

Re: Gun Industry statistics needed for research paper
A good source for economic info is of course financial reports, as all publicly held companies must publish them. I am aware that not all gun manufacturers are publicly held. However, looking into some financial reports will give you a better grasp on profitability, legal issues, expense ratios and the like. If you are doing a report on the industry and do not address profitability and cost (manufacturing costs, overhead, material, waste etc) and it is a business analysis you can expect to do poorly.
