Atlas Shrugged Movie?
Apparently, there is an Atlas Shrugged movie in pre-production with an ETA of 2011 (just before the Armageddon, thankfully)
http://www.atlasthefilm.com/
Produced by the Baldwin Group (not those Baldwins), the lead role of Dagny Taggart is looking to be Angelina Jolie.
Hopefully, this epic won't be crammed down into anything less than 3 hours, but I doubt it. It would be great to have this come out BEFORE THE NEXT ELECTION.
So on to potential casting... my best guess:
Daniel Craig as Hank Rearden
Jean-Philippe Susilovic as Francisco d'Ancona http://www.zap2it.com/media/photo/2007-06/30354835.jpg
Christian Bale as John Galt
thoughts and ponderings? The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

Re: Atlas Shrugged Movie?
There is no way they could do the book justice...either way most americans are to stupid and have short attention spans to get the point. I predict a total clusterfuck of a movie.
As it is, the book is a hard read, 500 pages could have been easily trimmed out, but Rand opted to keep repeating her message in different ways.
All you need is a good orator to do Francisco's "MONEY" speech, and Galt's speech to get the gist of what she was trying to say.
Either way, considering it was written in the 1950's, it is amazing how well Rand "saw" what was coming for the US. Very prophetic."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775
"Sometimes reasonable men must do unreasonable things" Marvin Heemeyer

Re: Atlas Shrugged Movie?
As I understand it, this has been talked about for a while, but nobody can make progress on it. I've heard Angelina for Dagny as well, but as you can see on their imdb page the announced casting is a bit slim right now.

Re: Atlas Shrugged Movie?
Do you really think that Hollywood types will want to be associated with a film whose message is so anti-socialist? I predict major script rewrites to turn the message into something that would make Rand spin in her grave like a perpetual motion motor.

She grew up in Communist Russia. I think it was less of a prediction as it was putting into words what she saw and experienced all around her.

And yes, it is a fabulous book.
