    Lightbulb Got an idea!

Since this is such a great forum with great members who support our military, what if we could gather some stuff to send care packages over to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe we could even send to the Regimental Combat Team-6, Camp Fallujah, Iraq http://www.pafoa.org/forum/lounge-10...-hear-you.html.

I'm not good at organizing this kind of thing but if we could each put in some stuff (deodorant, phone cards, PAFOA stickers, snuff, gun magazines, etc). Anyone have any ideas? Throw them out here maybe we can come up with something good. I'm in south central PA (Altoona area) maybe each county or area could do their own. Do anyone know anything about this?

Yes, good idea and I'd be willing to contribute.
    The problem is "organizing" it.

The last time I sent stuff over there was for a co-worker's cousin who was training Iraqi police and had been on street patrols I believe. In addition to the usual drink mixes and baby wipes, I threw in a roll of black duct tape and electrical tape. Puzzled, my wife asks "WHY are you sending duct tape?"
"It's a guy thing, you wouldn't understand!", I replied! I also threw in an elastic, stock-mount shotgun shell holder I wasn't using and some individually packaged gun cleaning cloths. Don't know if any of those "odd" items were of any use to anybody, but I hope so.

If anyone in my area (Pgh) is collecting, let me know, I'd like to donate.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

My thinking is that the actual collecting items to send is not a problem. I know a handful of people who will donate items.

Here's some of the things I need to figure out:

    - where to get boxes and what size (several large boxes or lots of small boxes)

    - how or where to they ship from (post office, army base). Can just any box be shipped to Iraq or Afghan? Does it need to be inspected first?

    - what address to ship to?

any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

You can get boxes at U-haul places, but they're pretty large. I'd take a guess and say 3x3x3 ft at the max, and they got some decently small ones too. I'm not sure if that'd be too big or too small, but check one out.

Maybe contact americansnipers.org and ask them the where and how? They do pretty much the same thing your trying to do, I wouldn't imagine them not helping out a great cause
