    Default 1911 in .40 S&W

I might be in the market for a 1911 chambered in .40 S&W.

I am looking for something dependable that's not gonna break my bank.

I have been doing my research on them, but I wanna hear from people who actually have them and wanna hear about your experiences with them and any recommendations you guys might have.

This would probably end up being a duty weapon.

    Just a question...

Other than cheaper ammo, why a .40 instead of a .45? I don't mean it to start a debate or anything I'm just curious.

Edit: I just noticed your picture. If you already have a .45 I completely understand having one of a different caliber

I am looking for one in .40 because the company I work for will be switching over to .40 S&W and as you noticed, I do have 2 chambered in .45 ACP.

I know Para makes one in .40 and I know STI makes several in .40 as well. I am looking for something that won't break my bank though. I paid around $600 for the Para I carry now.

Just looking for suggestions from people who own 1911's in .40 cal since I am used to shooting 1911's and would like to stay on this platform if possible.

Why not a .40? It is a great caliber.

Not cheap but looks like a great 1911 if you must have a .40... Buy once cry once as they say...

I have never had an issue with any of Les's pistols. They are well made and extremely accurate.

i always felt that the 1911 platform wasn't the best utilization of the 40 cartridge because you can't take advantage of the 40's extra capacity.

the wide body 1911's don't fit my hand so it just isn't for me.

otoh the bhp 40 never worked for me either.

The HC surprised me with its size. Caspian did a great job on the frame...

The wide body Para that I fondled months ago was not that much of an issue for me (and it fits in my level 3 holster). Since I already have a level 3 holster for a 1911, that's another reason why I would like to stay on the 1911 platform.

If I can't find something that I can afford, I would probably buy a Glock (used to carry one before) or the XDm in .40 cal (shot one the other day and it felt good in my hands).

I just didn't want to have to buy a new pistol and new holster as well.
