Default Which one and why(Update bought one)

    Bought the AK.
I'm going to be purchasing a new rifle in the next week or two.
I have it narrowed down to a few choice"but" I'm open to suggestions.
I basicly want a go to shtf all around kick ass weapon.
I already have a M1 Garand but want something thats easier to lug around and hi-cap mags.
Here what I'm looking at and why.
Please add your thoughts and why?

    1. AK.
Why. I like the proven reputation of it and the round 7.62X39. I also like the prices.
    $500-600
    2. AR 16" or 20"
Why. Again I like the reputation and the versatility. Common round
Probably a DPMS or STAG. $700-800
    3.Ruger mini 14.
Why. The more I look at it the more I like it. Similar to the Garand, .223 rd.
Accuracy concerns me from what I read. $700
    4. Saiga-12 (Yes its a shottie)
why. Its bad ass, 20 rd 12ga drums.
    But it's only short range.
    $500

Eventually I'll probably own all of them but which one is the most versitale(sp)
and best companion in a bad situation?

I think that if you have to buy one right now I would go with the AK because they are reasonably priced and I think that the AR's are going to continue to drop in price. I would hold off to any purchase right this second and look for the deal closer to the fall.

I know ARs will be coming down soon, but my gut is telling me to buy now before I won't be able to.

The newer Rugers dont have the accuracy problems that the old ones did, just to let you know. I say go with the AK though.

Although, i've always wanted a semi-auto shotgun and the Saiga's kick serious ass.

Still, i say go for the AK. Good reliable platform, solid round, affordable prices, just awesome rifles. You cant go wrong with an AK.

I'm leaning towards the AK for the mentioned reasons. If I had my hearts desire I would get a Springfield M1A SOCOM and 10K rounds of ammo but my collars too blue for that. The AK makes sense from a price point. The AR's cost a good amount more.

Just consider how you plan to shoot this firearm. All of those weapons have their advantages and disadvantages.

I wouldn't get the mini-14, or a shotgun for your stated purposes.

Dont tell anyone, but AK's also put more hair on your chest, while AR's make your balls shrink.

Would you care to go into more detail about how you came to this conclusion? Being that it's pretty universally agreed to be the opposite of what you just stated, I'd be interested in hearing the basis for your opinion.

I agree. Sounds like an ignorant blanket statement, to me.
