5th Birthday My littlest girl is growing up !! WAY to fast

Sigh , seems like yesterday this little girl fit in my arm. Today she turned FIVE She is such a damn good kid , I couldnt be a more proud Dad about how she's turned out so far . She starts the first of 16 Years of School on 9/8/09. I keep teasing her all the time that she has to stop growing up so fast.

It actually hurts in my chest when I think about how much I love her and how proud of her I am . Being a parent changes everything !

On your fifth birthday , I wanted to tell you how much I love you and how proud of you mommy and daddy are. You make me laugh with your antics all the time. Even on the rare occasions you misbehave I cant look at your beautiful face and stay angry at you. You were walking before any other kids your age , riding a bike , tying your shoes , writing your letters , your so independant and growing up so fast the time is flying by. I love your sleepy morning hugs and snuggle time. I love the way you smell after a bath, love how your always willing to try new things , even when your a little afraid. I love how you run out the door and jump into my arms and say " hi daddy! " when I come home from work , even my worst days are gone like the morning mist when your smile and love lights up the day . I hope you'll forgive me in the future when I scare all the boys away , or never quite approve of any man who asks for your hand. I know deep down its inevitable , but to be honest honey , I dont think any Daddies ever think any other man is quite good enough. So , as you get another year older , I hope you have a wonderful day , enjoying all your presents and cake and friends. And know that no matter how old you get , or how far away you ever are , you will ALWAYS BE DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL .

I'm with you on daddy's little girls, there is nothing like them. Hold on to the time you have now because it quickly slips away. Congrats on the B-Day... That was a great letter to your daughter that I am sure she will cherish over time.

That being said we do " home school " as much as we can over the summers and to counter all the BS in the public schools. Plus I literally haunt the teachers , School Board Meetings and Principals Office. Got to do the best we can with the limited resources we have.

Talk about 'growing up too fast'?

My 'little guy'? The one I bounced in my knee while singing the theme song from 'Dudley Do-Right' is now taller than I am and wants to talk politics and 'serious' issues.

You have NO IDEA how much I miss the days when 'Daddy' cold make him giggle and laugh with something 'silly'

Enjoy these days because when I say they are WAY to short I am understating it ...

love your children like nothing else, don't take one moment with them for granted because all too soon those moments will be gone and trust me when I say you will regret those 'lost moments' forever.


Oh to be 25 and know what I know now!


She is gorgeous and YOU should take every moment you can to help guide her, to love her, and to cherish these moments ... the joys (and pains) of being a father... and (I hate to say this) understand that sometimes taking care of your family means losing precious 'moments' with that precious little girl .. hopefully some day she will understand those sacrifices you made.

Well , I think " ok " would be stretching it. Nothing life threatning , but this has definetly NOT been an " easy " pregnancy by any stretch. She's been hospitalized three times in the last three months , mostly over issues with kidney stones and a near full blockage of her right kidney , compounded by the fact that little Connor James is usually sitting on the same kidney , or kicking the hell out of it. Things got so bad last month they admitted her for a 3 day stay to place a Nephrostomy Tube in her right kidney. Sort of like a colostomey bag in a way. She's got a tube surgically inserted thru her back , into her kidney and stitched to her back to hold it in place, that tube goes to a small " foley " bag , that she has to wear on a clip on her hip so her kidney has an alternate drainage path .

The OBGYN told her to get two back to back steroid shots last week to help promote the babies lung growth in anticipation of the C Section next month , as he assured us she definetly wasnt going to make the full term due date of Nov 4th . So we're looking at mid October at the latest . They want to do everything they can to get him to 34 weeks minimum before delivery and she's at 30 weeks and a few days as of today .

We'll last week when we went to the Labor & Delivery Floor of the hospital to get her second steriod shot we must have interrupted lunch or something , cause the nurse that took care of it was clearly not very happy and was very short and curt . Well apparently this bitch ( sorry ladies but its deserved) , didnt bother to read Stephs chart or anything , just walked in the room and told her to bend over for the shot in the cheek . Before either of us could say anything this woman grabs Stephs shirt and flings it up , grabbing the stitched in place Nephrostomy Tube in the process and yanking it !

Now , if you know my wife, she's got an incredibly high level of pain tolerance and this made her scream and put her on her knees instantly ! Then to compound matters , the nurse tried to play it off as if it was my wifes fault ! Saying " you should'nt be wearing this fanny pack , thats what snagged it " . When the fact is the fanny pack belt was a good 6 to 8 inches BELOW the insertion site of the tube.

Well , it turns out this pschyo nurse actually wound up pulling on it so hard on the tube that she partially dislodged it , reasulting in the whole thing having to be changed out and " reinstalled " on this past Monday . So yea , this pregnancy has been anything but " good "

And yes a complaint was filed with the nurse manager and the patient services liason . And the OBGYN was informed this woman is NOT to be anywhere near my wife during her delivery .

Heck even I realize how fast we grow up. Well grow older, I doubt I'll ever grow up I still feel like I have to get up early tomorrow morning to make sure I have enough time to walk to my junior high. I can't believe I made it to 25 and managed to do it in one piece.

That said, I can't imagine how fast the time is flying by with you and your daughter. Keep doing whatever it is you're doing, it seems to be working out pretty well so far, and she'll continue to make you proud.
