Tax-writing representative "forgot" to report millions in assets
http://www.nypost.com/seven/08282009...use_186849.htm
WASHINGTON -- Rep. Charles Rangel failed to report as much as $1.3 million in outside income -- including up to $1 million for a Harlem building sale -- on financial-disclosure forms he filed between 2002 and 2006, according to newly amended records.
The documents also show the embattled chairman of the Ways and Means Committee -- who is being probed by the House Ethics Committee -- failed to reveal a staggering $3 million in various business transactions over the same period.
This week, Rangel filed drastically revised financial-disclosure forms reflecting new, higher amounts of outside income and numerous additional business deals that had not been reported when the reports were originally filed.
In 2004, for instance, Rangel reported earning between $4,000 and $10,000 in outside earnings on top of his $158,100 congressional salary.
But the amended filings show that after the sale of a property on West 132nd Street, his outside income that year was somewhere between $118,000 and $1.04 million.
Either 1) the tax law is too complicated even for him or, 2) he's a cheating pile of scum that should be removed from office.
Of course, no outrage over this.

I've hated that cocksucker ever since I heard his quote about how congress doesn't have to worry about what the middle class thinks of the stimulus because we are too busy working.
RANGEL: And one thing you can depend on, you don’t have to be worried about what the middle-class is gonna do. Things are so bad. They have to put food on their tables. Clothes for their kids. Get them in school. I think this is a tremendous opportunity for a stronger America.Last edited by jerkin; August 28th, 2009 at 03:19 PM.

The tax code is way too complicated. It's been said many times but a flat tax is the way to go.

So why isn't there a Special Prosecutor appointed by the Justice Department to investigate all of this creep's dealing and machinations?

Re: Tax-writing representative "forgot" to report millions in assets
Also, about the tax law, or a flat tax, or however you feel the government should produce revenue at the cost of the citizenry; I feel more strongly about limiting the spending of the government rather than the specific method of income collection. I do feel it unfair that those who produce the most, pay the most. The aspect of taxation that I dislike the most, however, and the issue we should be focusing on is the absurd amount of money the federal government spends today. They're borrowing from China, Europe and the Arab nations, putting troops in those nations and we're paying the bottom line. That's got to STOP.
Our chickens are coming home to roost. We've got a "democratic" government that operates solely at the whim of the people, with no concern for the limitations placed on the government. The people we've got now are buried in debt, buying googaws on credit, paying absurd interest rates and in short, shoveling coal into the fire on the train engine headed for the destroyed bridge. We've got a government "Of the people", and it's our own damn fault.

Re: Tax-writing representative "forgot" to report millions in assets
You know something , this brings to mind something I keep
telling a friend of mine , I think since all these congress
people work for us they should do as we say ,,,,,
No , better yet , f#$k them , first off any government
job should not be a paying job , that would weed out the
career politicians , second , anything they vote on ,,,,,,,
"We the People" vote on !!!!!
We've got town hall meetings , it's time for town hall
votings , let "Us" decide what "Our" country is going
to do , who wouldn't want to vote on anything that these
asswipes are , let us do it !!!
I'd gladly offer my time at any given time to man a district
for voting on every damn thing that they are , any day ,
any time , no matter what the out come may be .
Sorry about the rant , and I'm not all that great at putting
into words what I'm actually thinking but I think y'all will get it ![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]"

Re: Tax-writing representative "forgot" to report millions in assets
I agree with you regarding the wages of these "leaders" of ours. How do they own so many one million dollar houses in Harlem, as this quack did?
What's even funnier, I'm sure that they "obtained" this money as part of some lobbying strategy, or mismanagement of campaign contributions. The media loved trotting out that video clip of McCain stumbling over the answer when asked how many houses he owns, it's their favorite drum to bang: "Class warfare!". Congressmen should be paid in five figure salaries and hopefully have another job to occupy as much of their time as possible. If they're busy running a real business in a free market, they won't have much time to wrangle around our natural rights, the Constitution and their constant reinterpretation thereof, or find other intolerable acts to foist upon the peasantry. It'll also keep the right people in office. A man, or woman, that can manage a business and a family then voluntarily add the burdern of being a representative, that's the type of patriot we need. Now winning an election just puts a different mouth up to the public teat and they've got to suckle as hard as possible to get their maximum share. Hustling lobbyists, attending five-thousand dollars per plate dinners, being whisked around the country in private jets.
