    Default XD's - yay/nay based on..

Well, one good(?) thread deserves another. On another thread, phillyD2 asked what were some of the less than complementary issues ppl had with XDs. So here's mine.
Owned an XD40 cpl years back, fired ok, trigger was not so great and after a few months of not being thrilled with it..I sold it. But not before <1k rnds through the trigger spring broke. So, less money in my pocket before it said bye-bye.
Pros: Went 'bang' whenever I needed it to, except after trigger spring broke. Was not the ugliest handgun I've ever seen(no..that's not Glock..that would be High Points) It impressed all the <25 yr olds I worked with and took to range..woowoo. "That's sick, duuuuude!"..I was like "huh?".
Cons: Top-heavy, unbalanced, I was not very accurate with it, too busy-looking with all the doo-dads, gidgets and hornthrottle safety shit. I had the first version(I guess that would be the HS2000 cross-outs-to-say-XDs) and first generation finish..which sucked.
So, there is my impression..based on real life experience with the weapon.

I have owned 2. One full size, one SC, both 9mm.

Cons: Trigger had significant slack between the reset and break.

Pros: everything else was great. Dead nuts reliable, very shootable. I know the bore axis is higher than some other poly guns, but mine where 9mm, I didnt notice it.

My thoughts on my Springfield XD-40

Nay - A bit big for carry, even on my somewhat generous waistband. Does have a bit more flip than my PT140 pro.

Yea - Even with more muzzle flip, resets to target without consciously thinking about it. Far more accurate than I am. Quick followup shots are easier than with my PT140. Fit and finish are light-years beyond my little Taurus, and the Melonite treated finish is holding up very well.
KnightZero - Zombie Killing Mercenary Watchman for hire. Will work for food.

Methinks this isn't working out quite like the OP had hoped........then again he should be accustomed to that by now.

My XD .45 has been very reliable, no malfunctions in well over 2000 rounds. It fits my hand better than the G30 I had and the G36 is way too small without a mag extension and that defeats the purpose.

I have never owned one but have shot a few from others at the range.

I can't speak for reliabiltiy because it's not my test but friends report never having a problem and while they don't have the time "in the field" that Glock does I have seen torture tests perform that lead me to believe they are very reliable firearms.

I however don't like them. They don't feel as good in my hand as my Glock 26 and the trigger seemed longer and heavier than my Glock. They are a good gun if they fit you and your accurate with them, however many say the Block does'nt fit them and it does me so what does that tell you.
