custom knife interest?

I may be making a small run of semi-custom knives and I would like to gage interest.

the knife itself will be a fixed blade combat style knife. it will have a flat ground drop point tanto blade between 5 and 7 inches long depending on what you want. blade steel will be O-1 tool steel, 1/4 inch thick at the spine. hardened to 58-60 rc.

it will be a rather unique 1/3 tang design. with a solid handle made of T6 aluminum. all knive will be shipped in a bead blasted state.

I would post pics of the one I am just finnishing up but my wife let someone borrow our camera for a week, so pics to come.

I can do custom filework on the spines for an extra charge

cost of the basic knife will be $95

the sheath I have my current knife in is a Blackhawk Airborne Sheath and it works very well. it will cost about $37

I like true handmade, custom knives. Not the commercial "custom" stuff.

Do you also have an option to case harden blades? I've been wanting a case colored fixed blade knife for some time now..

I love knives. I dont have any money, but eventually Id like a nice 5 inch carry in the woods on the trail kinda deal. I cant say Ill buy one right now, but Id like if you posted up your work and stuff. I always thought it would be cool to have someone to collaborate with on a knife.

I just bought a Ontario RAT5 as my bushcraft knife. I've had the pleasure of handling one of Zach's knives (and giving him ideas for new designs). His designs are anything but fancy, but they will take anything you can throw at them. Besides....tools aren't supposed to be pretty.

I'm finishing up the prototype and it is going to Iraq in the fall. its been promised to my little brother (no actual relation) for a while now. I told him if he made it through boot I would have a knife for him. well, he got his papers just last week for deplyments and so the knife goes to iraq.


As for case hardenning. I wish I could. thats one thing I'm working on for myself, but I'm not comfortable doing anything for anybody if I can't garuntee it.

thats why I go with O-1 tool steel, I can make it tough, strong and sharp on a very consistent basis.
