Just do a quick google search for "*.CBR File reader" or something to that extent and you should get a bunch of sites with various programs you can usually download for free to view that type of file. Anytime you see an odd file extension like that just do a quick search and see what comes up. That being said also be cautious of what programs you donwload.

Google is your friend:

I've use a version of Winrar to unzip files like this.
BTW, if files like this concern you (and they should!), scan them with your virus scanner before unzipping (or, if you prefer the term "uncompressing"). If your virus scanner cannot do this, try Avast Anti-Virus (free to home users) or Comodo Firewall/Anti-Virus (also free, great program but there is a learning curve).Last edited by RoyJackson; August 22nd, 2009 at 07:07 PM.

You need to change your file extension to .rar in order to unzip the file. If you can't seem to find the file extension to change go to control panel - folder options - view tab - uncheck hide extension for known file types. Now you just need to simply remove .cbr and rename is .rar. Good luck!!

Hey RP.
Personally, I am like you and am cautious with downloading and installing randomly found software from the web.
Sourceforge is a community of software developers that I trust. I searched for cbr there and found a few readers.
Try these.

Re: Computer geeks needed
Someone beat me to it already but I'll post this for reference anyway.
http://filext.com/file-extension/CBR
This is a renamed .RAR file and can be decompressed with any .RAR file utility. The CDisplay program displays the comic book images so it is useful to use for this particular .RAR archive type.
filext.com is a great site for unknown file types. Please help my Baby Kitties and I avoid being homeless.
